Details of Experience:

Donald admitted to Lebanon Center originally on November 7, 2024, from another facility after requesting a center closer to home. He was greeted by our admissions nurse as well as other staff members and made comfortable for his first night with us. Donald, we learned, was very eager to start therapy and had an incredibly supportive sister to encourage him through the rehab process. However, due to recurrent issues with his wound not healing and infections Donald struggled to make any gains and had to be hospitalized multiple times.

On February 3, 2025, Donald required readmittance to Skyline Hospital due to his wound becoming worse, three days after his most recent return to Lebanon Center. The decision was eventually made to amputate the left leg for his best chances to heal and regain his mobility. He returned to us on February 12, 2025, ready to begin his new journey towards healing. The Concierge immediately set Donald up for face time with our Comprehensive Amputee Rehabilitation Program leaders Dennis Oehler and Todd Schaffhauser who helped him with information regarding his healing process and prosthetics. Donald was grateful for the advice they gave him.

Donald spent the last month of his stay working extremely hard with our rehab team to regain his strength and balance to return home and complete the process of learning to walk with his prothesis. I would very often see this resident in the therapy gym exceedingly early every morning and walking down the hall with our rehabilitation staff.

At the time of his discharge, he was walking 75 ft with a walker and minimal assistance. Since discharging from Lebanon Center, Donald has continued to work towards his recovery and preparing for his prothesis. He has communicated to the Concierge that he is looking forward to coming back to visit us when he has completed this process.
